Benefit requirements

In order to be eligible for benefits under Book II of the Social Code (SGB II), it is essential that you are fit for work, eligible for benefits and have submitted an application for benefits. Your application takes effect retroactively from the first day of the relevant month. Your income and assets play a decisive role in the calculation of basic income support.
