I am looking for work
„Der Job-Turbo zeigt, wie moderne und offene Arbeitsmarktpolitik funktioniert. Wir ermöglichen Geflüchteten einen schnellen Einstieg in den Arbeitsmarkt, was essentiell ist, um die Talente und Fähigkeiten, die in unserer Mitte leben, voll zu nutzen. Chancen bieten, statt Hürden bauen!“
Nadja Sthamer, Member of the Bundestag for the Leipzig II constituency
In recent years, Germany has done an outstanding job of taking in people seeking protection from many different countries. Since 2015 in particular, many people seeking protection have been taken in. In 2015 and 2016, most people came to Germany from the eight main countries of origin of asylum seekers (Afghanistan, Eritrea, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia and Syria). A large number of refugees from Ukraine have also been admitted since 2022.
Findings from the last few years have shown that in order to integrate into life in Germany, it is usually not enough to learn the basic language via an integration course, but that self-realisation in the new world of work should also take place. To this end, the Job Turbo is once again providing new impetus throughout Germany. The goal of long-term and sustainable employment is intensively focussed on.
- All migrants with access to benefits under the German Social Security Code II (SGB II) - Citizen's Allowance - benefit from the comprehensive support and activation provided by the Leipzig Job Centre (e.g. advice/information, access to language courses, placement in employment, assessment of the granting of labour market policy support benefits).
- The integration course system has expanded enormously in a short space of time. Recently, many people in Leipzig have completed the integration course at B1 or A2 level and are now basically ready for the labour market
- Further language support to B2 or even C1 level can also enable access to vocational training or a degree programme in Germany.
- During further language training, however, the aim is to gain initial work experience - whether as a part-time helper, at the entry level of a previously trained profession or even completely outside the field - to further consolidate the German language skills
- All those involved in the integration process must work closely together. In the work context, this primarily concerns the three active partners:
- immigrants
- the Leipzig Job Centre and the Federal Employment Agency Leipzig and
- the employers in our region.
The skills and labour shortage in Germany is currently affecting many migrants with a wide range of skills and knowledge who want to start a new, self-determined life in Germany. The job centres and employment agencies throughout Germany are providing a high level of support in this regard.
