You should always enquire in person or by telephone at other childcare centres to find out when there will be places available and how you can register. Often you will also find information on the homepages of the facilities, e.g. for viewing appointments for parents or a form to register for a free place.

How expensive is a childcare place?

Depending on the number of hours, childcare in a crèche, daycare centre, after-school care or day care is subject to a Monthly parental contribution to pay. There are lower contributions for single parents and parents with several children. You do not have to pay a parental contribution from the 3rd child in care.

If you receive benefits to secure your livelihood - ALG II from the Leipzig Job Centre, the parental contributions will be paid in full by the City of Leipzig. Please send the Application for reduction and the notice of approval for ALG II to the Office for Youth and Family.

All other parents with a low income can also apply to the Office for Youth and Family for a reduction in the parental contribution.

The application for a reduction in the parental contribution is always valid from the month in which the application is submitted - so don't wait!
